Wheal Associates is committed to high-quality training. Chris served for many years on the editorial committee of the Periodical Training Council and was a member of the working party that redefined magazine journalism NVQs.

When the National Union of Journalists set up a Professional Training Committee in 2002, Chris was elected with the highest number of votes and became its founding chair.

Wheal Associates provided a journalism evening class for beginner journalists at City University for several years and involved trainers such as Bill Goodwin, the journalist who refused to reveal his confidential sources and beat the UK government in the European Court of Human Rights. Many past students now work in journalism.

Chris has also lectured at City and at Westminster universities as well as providing commercial journalism training in the UK and in Europe.

Wheal Associates provides a range of other courses, from writing skills to industrial relations training, to organisations such as the NUJ and Bexley Council.

In addition to journalism training Chris carries out media coaching has helped coach several companies and organisations to better present their message to the media. Chris learnt the hard way by appearing regularly on radio and TV. Watch him many years ago on Sky Money.
